Wayland News (Newspaper) - September 20, 1962, Wayland, Iowa The Wayland news volume 17-b Wayland in Henry county Iowa thursday september 20, 1962 number 45 a and when her masters saw that the Hope of their gains was gone they caught Paul and Silas and Drew them into the Market place unto the rulers and brought them to the magistrates saying these men being jews do exceedingly trouble our City and teach customs which Are not lawful for us to receive neither to observe being acts 16 19-21 we Are always hearing that times change and they do in some ways. But in Many ways they stay much the same. As in the instance above when the will of the lord interfered with the Way of life of a group of individuals they immediately did evil in order to try and assure themselves of a future. Not much different from the Way we act today is it i wonder if anyone Ever admits that they Are wrong anymore ? just listening to the news reports and Reading the daily newspapers would indicate that no Public official Ever makes a mistake a and tells about it himself. How can we As a people get to the place where it is always the other fellow who makes the mistakes i doubt very much if our problems will Ever get solved until some of our leaders get to the place where they can admit they have been wrong and then do what they can to Correct it. Here in the mid West we hear a lot about agriculture and How it is the most prominent of All the occupations in the area. And lately Industry has been on the increase in the same area. This in turn seems to bring about a division Between the two types of work and to just listen to the Ordinary run of conversation you would think that one can get along just Fine without the other. Also people Are continually trying to declare that one is imposing on the other. Now some of these statements May be True in various cases but in looking at the Overall picture i wonder just How much truth there is in it just for fun lets think Back a Little and see what comes. Supposing the big Man in Industry goes to get out of bed in the morning and throws Back the sheets that originally were made from raw materials off some farm. He reaches Down to put on bedroom slippers that had their Start on a farm. He washes his face with a product part of the ingredients of which came from a farm. He sets Down to a breakfast of which nine tenths came from a farm. He puts on business clothes that were made from products of a farm. He is transported to work in an Auto and some parts of that Auto came from a farm. While he is at work his children Are going to a school which is partly paid for by Farmers. His wife is going to the store to buy More products that originated on the farm. While at work he is Busy All Day Selling either to Farmers or to those who Are supplying Farmers. He has lunch with a business associate who owns farms. And that night believe it or not he is even entertained by a Farmer. Now lets look at the other Side. A Farmers gets out of bed in the morning and throws Back the sheets made m the City. He puts on bedroom slippers that were made and bought in the City. He washes his face with a product made sold and advertised in the City. He sets Down to a breakfast of which some parts were processed in the City even to the milk he drinks. He puts on clothing during his Days work he com that was made every stitch in the plates a Deal where he Sells part City. He goes out to his pickup of his crop to a City Man. He Iller tractor that came from a City vites his neighbor Farmer Over in the next state. While he is j to dinner because his neighbor working his children Are going to j Farmer lives in the City. And a school in the City taught by that night believe it or not he is citizens of the City and also partly j oven entertained by a City Feller paid for by the City people. His can one get along without the wife is also working part time in other about like you can get the City. I along without your head 155 Yards in 13 carries a 11.9 average. He broke Loose for Long gainers a number of times. Mainstays al the Waco defense were Sid Brooks and Gary red Iger who were the leading tacklers. Coach Fred Ekstrand a club had an Early drive killed by a Fumble but launched another with Roth going Over from the two. A a Larry Henss passed to Ken Miller for the extra Point for a 7-0 first Quarter Lead. In the second Quarter David Messer scored from the two and Roth ran the extra Point. Lone tree scored that period with Don Cerny passing seven Yards to Ron Hempsted. Cerny ran for the extra Point. Roth plunged across from the three in the third Quarter and Mast converted for a 21-7 Waco Lead. Lone tree Cut the Lead to 21-13 As Ron Flake galloped 60 Yards to pay dirt. A pass try for the extra Point failed. Waco applied the clincher in the final Quarter when Roth bolted Over from the one. A pass for the conversion Wasny to Good.
