Titusville Herald (Newspaper) - September 12, 2015, Titusville, Pennsylvania Mim the Titusville Herald Titusville pa., saturday september 12, 2015 Page 5community a he j Hydetown Bridge Jeff a memories Well Hydetown lost another one of her jewels this past week. Marie Benedict was one of the sweetest ladies you would Ever want to meet and if in a not mistaken Marie was born right Here in Hydetown. For 93 years she lived and breathed Hydetown and i be got a feeling that she was proud to Call this Home. For Over 30 years she worked As the Hydetown Borough Secretary for this Little town she loved and called Home. Marie also had the distinction of being the oldest Hydetown resident at the time of her passing. Our prayers go out to Marie Benedictus family. She will be greatly missed by All who knew her. A couple of weeks ago my wife and i were doing some visiting and we heard there was a Yard Sale going on Over at the Shrout a House so we decided to Check it out. So Robin and i drove out what we always called a the Quarter mile a on route 408, crossed the Bridge and then turned left and we were at Barb Shrout a House. I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole family there almost like old times Barb and her daughter Karen and her son Keith who was an excellent athlete. I was amazed at the things Barb remembered that i had Long forgotten. You see halloween was a special time around the Shrout House. Barbs husband Paul was the Constable and of course we had our Little gang of hoodlums terrorizing Hydetown Back then. Its kind of funny when i think about it now. These hoodlums Are All grandparents now. There was me Cousin Ralph Jim Roberts Gene Cook and i know in a missing a couple. We had a close Bunch of friends running together Back then. Evidently a couple of the boys were foolish enough to by Jeff and Robin Sterling try to soap Paul Shrout a House windows and found out Paul a wife Wasny to anyone to mess with. I done to know if there were any injuries or not but i have my doubts that anyone Ever messed with their House again. It was too Short of a visit but i just love talking about the Good old Days. I go Back a Long time with Barb Karen and Keith and there Are nothing but fond memories of these Hydetown friends.
