According to Muenger the meeting was productive and covered three main areas the recently constructed guard shacks noise complaints stemming from marching band rehearsals and the vacation of several City streets. The guard shacks were put up in the Wake of an incident where a student got shot. Last year the toy drive provided toys for 278 children in the Childersburg area. Childersburg resident Janie Green said 30 years ago she saw need and started by writing names on a piece of paper. Today Green and Childersburg fire department chief Douglas Blair Are the Only two original members of the drive. Recently they sent a letter to supporters informing them about this years drive. Parents that want their child or children to be considered can pick up an application from Childersburg City Hall monday through Friday from 8 . To 5 . Munger said Williams and Lawson said the College would move any of the shacks that Are on City property and agreed to seek a certificate of appropriateness from the City a historic preservation commission. Muenger said the College representatives said the shacks would be manned by employees of a private Security company the College had hired. It was not Clear tuesday what authority these Security guards would have. Muenger said his understanding was that they would be there a to observe the College also planned to install surveillance cameras All Over the Campus although the timeline on this was not Clear. According to Talladega College vice president for student affairs Jacqueline Paddio the new Security guards will be certified police officers and they will be armed. The officers will be coming from outside agencies. The exact number of extra guards would vary according to shift and to the schools needs at any Given time. The school administration was a working expeditiously on the Security see issues Page 6a Brian Schoenhals the daily Home Talladega College has said that they will move the guard shacks that infringe on City rights of Way and will ask for certificates of appropriateness from the City a historic preservation commission. The shacks will be manned by employees of the private Security company the College has hired. Gary Hanner the daily Home Riverside House fire no one was injured when this Riverside Home caught fire tuesday afternoon shortly before 4 . The Home is owned by David Lampi and located at 305 lock 4 Road. Lampi was at Home at the time of the fire and said it started in the garage. Lampi said the House was built in 1996, and he and his wife have lived there for 16 years. The Riverside fire department and Pell City fire department responded to the fire. A Dale Halpin has performed at a High level for the daily Home and the St. Clair times and is More than ready to take on new responsibilities a said de Fowler publisher and editor of the daily Home and publisher of the St. Clair times.
