tBucs win, 7-4,ton 9th-inningblow by West■| COMPTON - Catcher Wayne ' West belted a three-run homer inthe ninth inning yesterday afternoon to snap a 4-4 tie and give the Ventura College Pirates a 7-4 victory over Compton in a Western States Conference finale.The victory gave the Bucs a final season record of 13-12 and afinal WSC log of 5-9.It was an uphill struggle for the Bucs, who trailed by a 4-2 score from the fourth to the eighth inning when they scored twice totie it up.Ventura took a 2-0 lead in thesecond on a single by Wally Villa, triple by Roy Gilmore and single by Dave Laubacher.Compton came back with four unearned runs in the fourth ontwo errors and three hits for a4-2 lead.The Pirates’ tying runs came on a walk to Dick Jaquez and singles by Richard Sakamoto, Jim Bastian and Villa.Art Sanchez started for the Bucsand hurled the first seven innings.Bastian, the winning hurler, took over in the eighth.In the ninth, Laubacher was safej n an error and Sakamoto singled o set the stage for West’s round-1tripper.The linescore:Team ^ HVen Col!.....020 000 023—7 10 3Compton ......000 400 000—4 7 2Sanchez, Bastian (8) and West; Hall and Page.I
