No. 52 court House repairs to give Many men jobs to be largest single g w a it project in county the Mckean county court House Smethport is to be thoroughly renovated and repaired immediately under the Federal Cwa assistance program. The application made by county commissioners w. H. Halpenny Andy Anderson and t. F. Hungiville has been tentatively approved and work will be started As soon As official notice is received of authorization of the project. This will be the largest single Cwa project in Mckean county. The scope of the Job. As listed by the commissioners includes an entire new roof which has been badly needed for Many years calling for an allocation of $10,878 of Federal Aid Money and to give employment to 62 men. An allocation of $5,691 is included for painting refinishing and repairing the huge building. This Job will provide work for 32 men. The court House building was erected in 1883 and has needed a Complete overhauling and repairing Job for a number of years. A Large Wing was added to the building in 1915, but this has been the Only big work carried out since the Structure was erected. The roof of the main building has leaked for years. Completion of the contemplated Cwa project will completely modernize the county governments building the county commissioners Are to be congratulated on their Enterprise in availing the county of the generous government Aid offered under the Cwa for work which has been needed for a Long time. To decide decoration winners Friday night Friday night from 7 to 9 of clock a committee of the Smethport a canopus club on invitation of the Borough Council will inspect local Christmas decorations and # will award the prizes offered by r the Borough municipal electric service for the Best decorations. The prizes Are $15, first $10, second and $5, third. Geary of Custer City new Bowling alleys auspiciously opened the splendid new Bowling alleys in the basement of the Ostrander building on main Street were officially and auspiciously opened with a huge throng present last thursday night. The four alleys enjoyed heavy and steady patronage and the crowd of players were still going Strong at 3 00 of clock Friday morning when lights were extinguished. Years ago when Bowling alleys were operated in the basement of the old Backus building Smethport was one of the hottest Bowling towns in the country.
