Green Team return equals job and benefits
The Manitoba government is putting $2.2 million into an expanded Greem Team program which is expected to create jobs for over 700 young people.
In the past the program has employed young people in provincial parks. A new ‘Hometown’ component, with municipal assistance will expand the program into rural communities.
“Our area has already seen the benefits of this program in our many provincial parks,” said Gimli MLA Ed Helwer. “I'm sure the new aspect of the program this year will help to make improvements in our communities as well as our parks.”
The Green Team program, which falls under the Rural Economic Development Initiative, provides im-provements and enhancements of public works and may include conservation, maintenance, marketing and promotion.
“Many young Manitobans will benefit from the work experience, development of job skills and the opportunity to earn money for tuition,” Helwer said.
Young adults between the ages of 16-24 are eligible for up to eight weeks of work at an average of $6.35 an hour.

KUBIC — In loving memory of our dear mother and Baba, Rose, who passed away May 5,1991.
It only takes a little space,
To write how much we miss you, But it will take the rest of our lives,
To forget the day we lost you.
The things we feel most deeply, Are the hardest things to say, Because we your family loved you,
In a very special way.
Still loved, still missed each passing day.
—Lovingly remembered by Steve and Ruth, Shirley and Laurence, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
KUBIC — In loving memory of our mother and grandmother who passed away May 5, 1991 and father and grandfather, May 17, 1964.
They’re the buds from earth transplanted,
For our coming watch and wait In the upper garden growing,
Just within the pearly gate.
Tho’ our hearts may break with sorrow,
By the grief so hard to bear.
We shall meet them some bright morning,
In the upper garden there. —Lovingly remembered by son Bob, daughter-in-law Stella, grandchildren Cindy, Brenda and Shirley Herbert (Wade) and great-grandchild Samantha.
SWAIN — In loving memory of our dear son, brother and uncle, ‘lan’, who left us on May 12,1973.
