Sedalia Democrat (Newspaper) - July 27, 2015, Sedalia, Missouri Sedalia dem Issue 208, volume 147breaking news at monday july 27,2015 a 50$spd searching for suspect by Nicole Cooke Sedalia police Are still searching for a suspect after Friday nights homicide. According to a Sedalia police department release 15-year-old Andrew Meyers died late Friday night. At 10 03 p.m., spa received several 911 Calls of a subject who had been shot near West Cooper Street and North Missouri Avenue. Spa chief John Degonia told the Democrat sunday afternoon they had a suspect in Meyers death and officers searched saturday night and sunday morning for him. The suspect called spa on sunday stating he would turn himself in monday morning accompanied by his attorney. If the suspect does not do so Degonia said there is enough probable cause to Contact the Pettis county prosecutor to obtain a warrant for his arrest. Upon arrival Friday night officers found a Black male subject who had sustained a gunshot wound lying near a car. Officers applied first Aid until Pettis county ambulance District units arrived and transported the subject to Bothwell regional health Center. Meyers underwent examination and treatment but later died while at the Hospital. Officials have not released where Meyers was shot but that he was shot Only once. An investigation and search warrant on a nearby residence where Meyers had been when he was shot revealed a a significant number of narcotic trafficking items along with a a numerous illegal firearms. The residence was searched due to evidence the crime happened inside. A some evidence showed the crime happened inside the residence so we obtained a search warrant collected evidence and found it happened inside the residence a spa cmdr. Adam Hendricks told the Democrat saturday. A we believe Meyers was shot inside the residence and made it out to the Roadside where they were found by police after a 911 Hendricks said spa officers and detectives spent the weekend actively following up on several leads. He said there was Little cooperation with the Public and witnesses who were at the scene when officers arrived Friday night and saturday morning but cooperation began to improve saturday afternoon. When asked saturday about gang activity Degonia said there is no indication at this time the homicide was gang related.
