Estes moved from Kansas City to return to her roots on the farm. She has worked at the Missouri state fair for the last 19 years and is in her first year serving As Dairy a pc i it Chothi i. Dairy superintendent relishes farm life by Hope Lecchi Good teachers can be found throughout All walks of life. For some their classroom is a traditional setting with desks and whiteboards. Others May seize the Opportunity to teach a child or educate a person in any setting they Are Given. Amyjo Estes Dairy superintendent for the Missouri state fair is equally at Home in both educational environments. Estes spent 15 years teaching fourth and fifth graders and the last three years teaching the gifted classes in the Gasconade county r-1i school District that was not the full extent of her teaching. Each summer for the past 19 years she has been educating visitors to the fair about the importance of Dairy cattle. A i really think the most important thing is to educate the next generation of kids a Estes said. When i walked in the Gate i was just thrilled and thought i was at Dick recalled a Story about How the train used to deliver the circus animals to Sedalia and then they would Parade the animals from the depot to the Fairgrounds. A there were All kinds of races Back then. Boy in a glad to see the races Back a Dick said. A but in a not just talking car races. Back then we had pig and horse races. Heck one year they even had Ostrich for each memory Dick recounted it seemed a visitor to the com dog stand would Stop by and Tell him a Story about their memories of eating one of the foot Long com dogs a painted Quot As Dick likes to say with Mustard or Ketchup. The com dogs came in 1968. A everyone Here at the fair is so Good and works so hard they always have Quot Dick said. A one Day my brother Dicks twin Frank and i started talking and we thought com dogs might be a Way that we could help out with a food at the time there were very few options for food at the fair. Many visitors would bring their lunches and eat under the Shade Trees on the grounds. A Aback then i knew every Vendor Quot Dick said. A i would go around and talk to them All. I still try to do that Dick seems to be the King of the com dog vendors judging by the lines of customers waiting to Pur Chase a com dog from his stand. Mizanskey Mizanskey has served about 20 years of a life sentence in the Missouri department of corrections for drug related charges. He had been sentenced to serve life without parole under Missouri so prior and persistent drug offender Quot Law although he had not been previously convicted of a felony other than marijuana Law violations.
