said The basilicas Belgiummade canopy is held on a bronze pole with red and yellow stripes the popes colors It is hand embroidered with the coat of arms of Pope Benedict XVI Archbishop Michael Sheehan the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and the Cathedral Basilica of St Francis The church will also receive a Vatican flag and silver bells known as a tintinnabulum once used to announce the popes arrival The items will always be kept in the church sanctuary Dur ing the Mass Martinez y Alire will read the official proclama tion elevating the church to a basilica Amelia Hollis Romero a life long parishioner of St Francis and pastoral council president said she felt honored to be able to attend the Mass Its just she said Its just something that in my lifetime I am privileged to be a witness Hollis Romero in 1610 in Santa Fe by Spanish Franciscans and is one of the oldest established Christian congregations in the country according to the arch dioceses Web site The existing church is the sixth one
