Butler won 434 votes in St. Clair or 57 percent to Mcglaughn 327, 43 percent. The seat became vacant after rep. Blaine Galliher was asked to serve As legislative director for gov. Robert Bentley. At mondays regular meeting the Council voted unanimously to pass a Resolution directing the City a planning and zoning Board to reexamine a zoning ordinance that would create a a planned Community development for grand River. The first phase would include around 300 Homes according to mayor David Miller and the Entrance would be located at the intersection of Zeigler Road and Rex Lake Road. A what we re going to do is refer this proposal to the planning and zoning Board with the idea it be Back to us within 30 Days with their comments and recommendations a Miller said. A we will take it up at the Jan. 22 Council meeting for the City sent out notices for a special called meeting on Jan. 4 at 6 . The zoning boards regular meeting on Jan. 10 will include a Public hearing regarding the ordinance. The Center will locate at exit 147, right across from the Valero travel Center that agreed to a development agreement that the Council ratified in november. The agreement for loves is similar with the City agreeing to rebate 1 cent of its 3 cent tax on diesel fuel to the travel Center. The City voted to raise its tax on diesel fuel to its current rate at its dec. 10 meeting.
