Already approved by the county planning commission the Eastern Elpaso county recreation District will be the topic of discussion financial management and marketing. Epic petition drive going Well by Jenni Renzelman numerous petitions being circulated by members of the Eastern Plains citizens coalition epic have already been filled up with signatures of local voters supporting an initiative which would impose restrictions on the use of eminent Domain to condemn private property. At a meting of the epic Jan. 19, committee chairman Clark Absher collected four More completed petitions each has space for 30 signatures to add to the Many that Are already stacking up in the fight against the Legal status quo which some believe allows an abuse of eminent Domain. Elpaso county fair Queen contest it is never too Early to Start thinking about the 2006 Elpaso county fair a your Brand of fun a the fair Queen committee is seeking qualified candidates to serve As the Elpaso county fair Queen for the 2006 year. Eligible contestants must be single and never married females Between the Ages of 18 and 22. Professionals models actresses Are not eligible. For the past five years the non profit organization has sponsored numerous fundraisers pursued Grant dollars and collected donations toward the goal of building a swimming Pool. While several Grants have been awarded and Many a bake Sale has sold out Over the years the funds Are still sorely lacking. Valued at please see Pool Page 8 Elbert sheriff moves prisoners by John Hiu the Sheri of of Elbert county moved 16 prisoners from the county jail Aller data describing a Mold contamination in the adjacent courthouse dictated the move. Sheriff William Frangis moved the 16 prisoners to Washington county Jan. 21. Frangis met briefly with commissioners Jan. 18 to request the data. The courthouse was closed Jan. 12 Arter the two contamination were discovered. It is the second time in months that the courthouse has been closed because of Mold contamination. The courthouse was closed from september 2004 to february 2005. Commissioner John Metli said Small patches of Mold w Ere discovered on a Wall behind a screw anchoring a Gutter downspout and behind the baseboard in an office. The county hired an environmental contractor to clean Mold contamination at the courthouse in 2004. The contractor inspected Wall cavities inside the courthouse and checked the external the largest paid circulation weekly in Elpaso and Elbert counties
