Press-Telegram (Newspaper) - October 8, 1959, Long Beach, California DODGERS WIN WORLD SERIES Los Angeles lakes Sixth Game, 9 to 3 Nine Runs Scored, by Teams in Wild 4th-lnning Attack CHICAGO Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series today by crush- ing the Chicago White Sox, 9-3, in the sixth game on the home-run blasls of Duke Snider. Wally Moon and Chuck Esscgian and the sharp relief pitching of Larry Sherry. The White Sox' three runs came on a tremendous home- run blow by Ted Kluszewski in' the wild fourth inning in which nine of the game's 12 runs were scored. The winning pitcher was work-horse Larry Sherry, who relieved Johnny Podres with one out in the fourth andj allowed four hits and no runs the rest of the way.
