Mcmillan Hopes they can be displayed somewhere so the Public can enjoy and learn from them. All dolled up but no place to go by Christine Mazur special to the Herald Leader some dolls Are not just toys to be played with. Each doll in Aulda Mcmillan is collection tells a Story about a part of her life. The 84 year old Portage la Prairie resident started her collection in 1979, and it quickly grew to 1,000 dolls at its Peak. Now much smaller at Only a few Hundred the dolls Are in need of a new Home where they can be displayed to the Public and appreciated. They were purchased because there was something about them said Mcmillan now a resident of Douglas Campbell Lodge. Collecting mostly porcelain dolls Mcmillan a teacher for 45 years bought the first one while accompanying a grieving Friend to Scotland. The Friend had just lost her son and the doll bears the memory of that trip. Another doll tells the Story of Mcmillan is trip to communist China in 1981, when the Border was just starting to be opened to tourists.
