While Boers worked through official channels to try to locate William mantel with the help of other relatives continued with his own search that eventually led him to Kerol Rose Davids older adopted sister. Mantel did not know what the reaction would be from the Rose family so he requested Boers make the initial Contact. Since Boers reception was positive mantel got in touch with Kerol directly. Unfortunately his father William had died in 1984, but mantel discovered he had a half brother David. After the two spoke on the phone a couple of times the reunion was set for nov. 1. Thatus Why ism Here mantel declared to meet my brother. Rose said he was shocked to find out he had a half brother when his sister Kerol called his daughter and told her. After chatting on the phone both Brothers discovered they had the same photos of their father taken during his time in the military which they shared with each other via e mail for confirmation. Thatus when i knew this was for real Rose recalled. The meeting was set up with an Edge of urgency As Rose was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer about a 1 1/ 2 years ago that is considered aggressive. He came in time Rose quipped about his Brothers visit. Its one of the worst cancers you can get. The retired general labourer described his initial reaction to seeing mantel for the first time As almost like looking into a Mirror. We both look like my dad. Or our dad Rose said. The two sat up until 3 a. M. Talking about their father and details of their own lives the first Day mantel arrived. Finding out about any blood relatives he May have via his father was important not Only to mantel but to his family in the Netherlands the dutch expatriate noted. His youngest daughter is especially Happy about the meeting. The Grandfather is gone he said but at least they have an Uncle Back. While William was very much a part of roses life growing up he Likely Only saw mantel a single time. Word has it he has seen me once mantel said. While the revelation of a half brother has been a Shock for both men neither has any hard feelings toward their father. I dont feel any remorse against dad for not telling me Rose said. Me neither mantel added. Mantel is Here for a three week visit.
