The City Council has received a complaint from a resident of Largs Bay regarding the amplifiers at Largs bandstand. This ratepayer says that Early on a sunday afternoon he was driven indoors by the noise from an amplifier operated from the Largs bandstand. The blare of brass bands the croaking of crooners and the shrieks of sopranos rent the air continuously throughout afternoon and evening until they give place to the regular sunday evening band recital. Even though he remained indoors with All doors and windows shut in a House at least 200 Yards away the noise was still very loud it was impossible to concentrate on anything and together with other occupants of the House he was driven nearly to distraction by evening. It appears that the noise is a stunt to advertise some firm s amplifiers in any Case it was far removed from entertainment. He respectfully reminded the City Council that Largs Bay is regarded As a select residential area not disfigured As Are Many of our beaches by noisy sideshows and other forms of so called popular entertainment but if our week ends Are to be spent in a deluge of unwelcome sound Largs Bay will soon lose All right to be so regarded. He protested emphatically against this violation of the right of ratepayers to spend their Leisure hours in peace and quiet and respectfully asked the Council to support this right and forbid a repetition of its violation.
