860 More Acres Available To State’s OutdoorsmenTribune Madison StaffMADISON - Outdoor recroationists will have an additional 860 acres of playground in northwestern Wisconsin as a result of action by the Wisconsin Board of Natural Resources.The board recently approved land purchases totaling 860 acres and $385,550 in four northwestern counties Total land acquisitions during February’s board meeting were 1.971 acres at a cost of $688,850 Although no land was purchased in the immediate La Crosse area, several of the northwestern purchases are within easy driving distance The largest purchase involves four parcels of land, three of them with lake frontage, for addition to the Bloomer Unit of the National Scientific Ice Age Reserve in Chippewa County. The board bought 308 5 acres for $140,750.The board also bought 99 acres at a cost of $100,000 for Kin-mckinnic State Park in Pierce County and 80 acres at a cost of $67,500 for Willow River State Park in St. Croix County.In Burnett County, the board purchased 116 acres at a cost of $32,300 for the Crex Meadows Wildlifeost of $45,000 for the Amsterdam Sloughs Wildlife AreaThe board also gave preliminary approval to aproposal to buy 12 miles of stream. 1.000 acres of land in Eau Claire County's Beaver Creek area and approved a land exchange with the Monroe County Conservation District involving 12 acres along the Elroy-Sparta Trail Other land purchases included 382 acres in Vilas County stream acquisitions in Iowa and Winnebago counties and wetlands acquisition in Dodge and Portage counties.REAL ESTATE SCHOOLBECOME A LICENSED REAL ESTATE BROKER OR SALESMAN!
