He married Rose Maron (nee Noel) on April 17, 1948. They farmed in the Whitemouth area until their retirement in October 1978 when they moved into the town of Whitemouth. Since September 2007 Rose and Jake have been residing in the Riverbend Manor in Whitemouth.He was predeceased by his parents Gottlieb and Amelia, sisters, Wanda, Olga and Anne and brother Rudolf. He is survived by his foster sister Elsie.Jake will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose and children, Eunice (George) Kunkel, Melvin (Jocelyn) Maron and Dennis (Ingrid) Stark, five grandchildren, Brian (Val) Kunkel, Larry (Nancy) Kunkel, Sherryl (Greg) Sawatzky, Colin (Susan) Stark, Jeremy (Cheryl) Maron, as well as 11 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan, Mark and Graeme Kunkel, Amanda and Candace Kunkel, Matthew, Kristen and Nicholas Sawatzky, Dylan and Taylor Stark.The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Spence of the Whitemouth Health Centre, the staff at Concordia Hospital and Grace Hospice for their warm and loving care, the visits of many friends and especially thanks and appreciation to Pastor George Johnson for his many visits and spiritual support.Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, River Hills, MB, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the River Hills Lutheran Cemetery. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thesday, February 26 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, MB.Flowers are gratefully declined.
