Aug. 16.— Good events in automobile racing, on the Henry Clay half-mile track here this afternoon closed the Orange County Fair. James Benedict of Katonah, N. jY broke the record for half-mile dirt tracks in the East, in an exhibition drive. He made the mile in 1:07 1-5, and the half in 33 4-5 seconds.W T. Comerford of New York, overturned his car. It righted itself, however, and he was only slightly injured. James Olivia, his mechanic, suffered from contusions of the back.The starter of the races was Fred J. Wagner of New York. W. H. Tra-band, Jr., represented the AmericanAuto Association.
