At the depth of -lb feet ! slate was struck and drilled through for 4.*i feet, following wlibn an excellent vein tif the very best kind of coal was encountered. The vein of tire clay was found at about one hundred and sixty | feet. If everything proves satisfactory, i a shaft will be put in soon and the coal i anti lire clav mined.
