Official announcement has just been received that the Oak land area Council s Camp Dimondo in the sierras has again been designated As the site for the 1953 Wood badge course. The dates of August 16 through 23 have been specified by Wes Kluseman National director of camping of the boy scouts of America. Dimondo has the distinction of having been selected each of the five years that the Wood badge course has been held in the Western Region. The Wood badge course is an intensive experience in patrol and troop camping. B o y s department Christmas Holiday program produced such keen Competition in the major basketball and Pool contests that scoring proved extremely difficult. Gunnor Norregaard who has been a member of the Oakland area boy scout Council staff for the last eight years has been promoted to scout executive for Nevada. Norregaard is promoted to Nevada Post Gunnar Norregaard assistant scout executive of the Oakland area Council will become the scout executive of the Nevada area Council this month. Norregaard joined the staff of the Oakland area Council eight years ago and has served As the District executive in the Central District and As assistant executive of the Council. He came to Oakland from the Nevada area Council where served for several years. His re turn to Nevada is a Story of the local boy making Good and re turning to the place of his orig Inal contacts in scouting. Norregaard has endeared him self to hundreds of Scouters by his genial personality and the efficient Way in which he has carried on the respective positions he has held. He is especially remembered for the out standing service he rendered As Camp administrator at Dimondo with the Oakland area Council. Norregaard will report to the Headquarters of the Nevada area Council on january 15, with his wife and daughter. They re hoping the weather is or rough scouts and Scouters of twin Valley District will hold their annual rough weather Camp at scout Rancho los Mochos near live Riore the week end of january 25, it is announced by Herman Wood District camping chairman. This occasion is the one time year when scout campers scan the sky and Hope for rain in order to better prove their Camp ing ability. The. Rough weather Camp sponsored each year by the Oak land area Council provides an Opportunity for scouts to gain practical experience in Camp ing comfortably regardless of weather conditions. Model Camps will be set up by Veteran campers for inspection by younger scouts before they set up their own Camps.
