Where is the free Trade cry now ? Harrison a plurality in Pennsylvania is 79,779, and Blaines plurality in 1884 was 81,019. A democratic gain in a Protection state 2,420. If feet Virginia and Delaware Send a Democrat to the United states Senate that body will then be a tie. Contests will he made in each state. Or. John w. Kinsey led his ticket 170 votes having 924 majority Over his competitor. The people said a a Well done thou Good and faithful Harrison so Quot reality in Ohio will fall below 20,000. Is is quite a falling off for a Wool gang state where 50,000 was claimed. 1884 it was 82,000. Quot a Salt part is projected at Salt Plain i Haler. I wonder if that is for us Defeated democrats and can we have a plurality wives while there. Anarchist sympathizers celebrated the first anniversary the hanging the anarchist murderers november 11th. About 5,000 persons were present. The Graves were decorated with Flowers and two speeches were made but the speakers were very cautious in their Ian Guage. Merchants the times has the largest circulation any paper published at the county seat and you should remember that fact when you want to advertise your Holiday goods. Remember also that we charge Only five cents per line for each insertion for locals while other papers charge ten cents per Lime for first insertion. Republican politicians Are already at Cabinet making. They say the following will meet with general approval Secretary state John Sherman Secretary Treasury William b. Allison Secretary War Russell a. Alger Secretary Navy William p. Frye Secretary Interior Warner Miller postmaster general John Wannamaker John c. New attorney general judge Thomas Settle North Carolina. The above list would leave poor Blaine out in the cold. Wannamaker was one the men who shelled out the Boodle to buy new York and is to be rewarded. The Chicago Herald nominates Cleveland for 1892. We would add to the ticket governor Gray Indiana to insure that state. This would make an excellent ticket. As the principle Tariff Reform grows so will Cleveland grow m strength with the people. Republicans now concede that the taxes must be reduced and when the ignorant hoppers see that Cleveland was right and had the courage to openly advocate what was right he will be appreciated the More and they will rally to his support in 1892. Hurrah for Cleveland and Gray. New York politicians claim a Cabinet position for Warner Miller because he had to be sacrificed the political altar to save tin rational ticket for Harrison. Charlt s a. Burton who seemed to be spokesman the delegation from new York that called Harrison said a a we had to do it. Quay gave the word at Haf past eleven clock to Cut and slash and we Cut and slashed both Miller and Earhart. Miller deserves a Cabinet position for his self sacrifice Foj without it Harrison could not have carried the Empire state and we expect Harrison to recognize that governor a a Hill a course was benefited by it but be ought to to ashamed his friends that would turn the National government Over to the Republican party for the Sake securing his own election. We do not blame the republicans for trading for they got the Best the bargain and we think they ought to take care the a a Lamb ? that was slaughtered. The republicans will hold a Jollif cation in this place saturday night and Are trying to out rival any demonstration the past. We hear a Rumor that they will Burn Grover Cleveland in effigy in the Public Square. We do not blame them for having a Jollif cation for the democracy would do likewise in Case Victor a but when they resort to the effigy act to express their feelings towards a president who has Given an honest and upright administration government then we think it is getting below the dignity an honest Republican. We would not endorse such an act by the democratic party and we surely think it not commendable in the Republican party. It is too much like the heathenism Days ancient times. The party elements a business Community should not be estranged by such extreme party measures such we think Border the Savage and barbarous nations. We get it As a Rumor however and Hope that no such foolish political enthusiasm will seize the people Owr a we Are informed that some new philadelphian have a new newspaper project hand. It is proposed to consolidate the plants the Standard and times Purchase a Power press and publish a Republican newspaper at the county seat. This notion seems to be prompted by ill feeling toward . Mcilvaine the editor the advocate. It is True that Many people have Long pined for the publication a Good Republican paper at new Philadelphia but we do not believe the number is sufficient to make the venture pay. New Philadelphia never was Good advertising town and the papers published there have never had a Bonanza. The advocate is a Good family paper and the personal enemies Mcllvain will find it a very hard Job to Root it out notwithstanding the unpopularity its editor. If however any the citizens new Philadelphia feel that they have Money to fritter away they will find a country newspaper office a Good thing for Fritt ering chronicle. The editor the chronicle must be a Little scared lest there might be further Competition among Republican newspapers else he would not have Given weight enough to the Rumor to publish the above. We assure you there is not the least probability the times and Standard being consolidated and run As a Republican paper with the present ownership and this is the first intimation we have had any such rumours. While we publish a paper it will be straight democratic. New improvements is now being added to the times and it has the largest circulation any democratic paper in the county and is bound to stay at the front. A coercion did not work in Cleveland with All the bucking it received from organized dealer. While it did not succeed in Cleveland it did have its effects with the employees the Cleveland capitalists. Fur instance an employee a paint and Oil firm who resides in new Philadelphia but travels for this firm in the state Michigan told us that the eve election that the employers his firm called in their travelling men before election and said to them a you Are employed for the year and you will get your salaries. Go Home and vote and if Harrison is elected report for duty after election and if Cleveland is elected we have no further use for this Young Man has generally voted the democratic ticket but we understand this time voted for Harrison and judging from the discussion and defense he made for the Republican party we have no doubt lie voted the Republican ticket which he had a perfect right to do if he saw fit. But this shows the coercion the manufacturers and the capitalists to abridge the suffrage the people. This method was practice by the protected manufacturers for the purpose elevating to Power the party that defends trusts combinations and watered corporations. Capital is made to coerce labor and defeat the will the people. Although the Republican party has control both houses Congress the democratic members should stand by Tariff Reform. There is enough tar Riff reformers among the republicans in the House and Senate to make it a Success yet and it is bound to win As a principal honest government. The Republican party must face the music and follow up the teachings their dead and living leaders Garfield Arthur Grant Conkling and John Sherman. The Republican party has pandered to Bot i reformers and protectionists and now they have an elephant their hands. They cannot serve two masters. The great West demands Reform. They can buy up Kings county in new York state but they can not Long control the great West. Let a the fight for the people go . The democrats Delaware will contest the election a. B. Richardson Kent county Delaware. Upon the face the returns Richardson rep., had 133 votes More than his democratic competitor. The fraud complained was the Saulsbury Republican combination ballots. The combination tickets were headed democratic but a majority the candidates thereon were Republican. The Law requires the heading to harmonize with the body the ticket. Also upon the ground that in Many precincts there were no democratic judges election officers being ostracised both before and while the balloting was going . The state Senate Delaware is democratic and will pass upon the Case. If the democratic senator in this contest is seated that will insure a democratic United states senator and the new Senate would then be a tie and the governor is a Democrat and course a Democrat would go to the United states Senate. Another Whitechapel murder has been committed in London and the murderer escapes As usual. This makes the seventh victim All dissolute women who reside in the neighbourhood known As Whitechapel where scores fallen women ply their vocation. The last victim was a mrs. Kelley who had left her husband. She was literally sliced to pieces her insides Cut out and Laid upon a table the deed was done in her own room. The police Are like a pack ignorant dudes who seem to be fit for nothing but dress Parade they have no clue whatever to the perpetrator the crime. Iobst Elict ob1 votes Given in the county Tuscarawas and state Ohio at the Electon held november 6,1888, for u. And county officers. Republicans now feel jubilant and say that the party will admit Dakota As two states and other Western territories and that they will All be Republican and in that Way they will hereafter have the majority in the electoral College without new York state and that the democracy Are out for All time to come. A but the democratic party is a Little like that a same old Coon that graces the repaid mean papers since the election it can fight As Well its Back As its feet and will eventually come out top. You can to kill democracy. The tone the Standard this week seems very much Republican. We would inquire if it has a a flopped a it done to seem to keep both sides exactly evea. Election precincts. The decision although not final is very favourable to the government and scores a great Victory for the people against a Gigantic Monopo the old roman was one the leading attorneys for the government. Harrison to consider. New York nov. 9. The Sun this morning has the following editorial a general Benjamin Harrison Indiana we Are speaking to you you Are a fortunate Man. You have been elected to the presidency without any those complications which have bothered some your predecessors. You possess a character which has gamed the respect your countrymen and every intelligent citizen believes that you mean to discharge your duties in the Light patriotism and principle. You have the Confidence the Public and therefore you will allow us one two suggestions. A a you have not committed the Folly pledging yourself beforehand against a second term but we be g you not to forget that the prevailing habit the american people is to elect their presidents Only once. In the last half Century Only two Lias succeeded in getting two terms. One was Abraham Lincoln the other was general Grant and each them owed this extraordinary distinction to the civil War. Previous to the War no Man gained a second term after general Jackson and since Grant went out office twelve years ago no president has succeeded in getting himself re elected. They have tried and they have been disappointed. We done to say that this sort unwritten Law which seems to forbid the second election a president is entirely Wise entirely advantageous to the country but it is certainly very convenient for a president before he takes office to understand the various obstacle that lie in the Way his getting a second term. There is a hidden political truth in a Precept the gospel which presidents in their first terms have not been willing to Lay hold a whosoever would save his life shall lose it and whosoever shall lose his life for my Sake shall save you Are familiar with the Bible general Harrison and we Trust that you May so apply this divine Wisdom that you yourself May profit thereby and the peple the United states May profit still More.
