The question secret ballot for our nominating convention is being discussed considerably just now. Some prefer the old Way by calling the townships and have them cast their vote orally. The advocates this method think it is much Shorter in Point time which is an important matter when the list offices is Large and so Many candidates. An old time Democrat remarked the other Day that the Oral method was Best because the people who Send the delegates As the representatives their , can Tell whether they Ara doing what is right and whether they Are carrying out the will the constituency whether the delegates Are disposing their votes As merchandise. The trading Back and Forth with candidates will go with either method. Many prefer the secret ballot to prevent any one knowing How be votes. Aud there is also Good argument in favor that method but it also has its drawbacks such As the a a switching ballots being tedious in operation and being a shield for political treachery where More than one candidate looms up from the same township when Eracli one claims the right to an Evial support.
