Texas Where two or three are gathered, be my name By DOROTHY LARIMORE Faith United Church of Christ How did it happen that a band of ex-slaves with no organization, no education, and no apparent way to survive In the Egyptian dessert, changed the course of history0 How did it happen that a motley crew of 12 disciples did the same thing0 Both the Hebrew slaves in Egypt and the 12 disciples had an encounter with the Holy of Holies that left them forever changed As contemporary people, we too, are traveling, perhaps not from one geographical place to another, but from one experience to another from experiences that oppress us toward freedom from bondage We move, as we grow into more and greater maturity, from darkness to light, from fear into love On our pilgrimage we are given a guide book, a source book, to unders tand these comings and goings This companion on our journey is our Bl ble It tells us who we are. how we got where we are how we can change and where we are going It is to this book that the community of faith turns in study, prayer and reflection for an understanding of the basic truths and meaning of life Sa* CHURCH Pa«« 7 Edward D.
