Morman, an apprentice munitions operations specialist, has arrived for duty at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. Morman is the son of Richard and Dorothy Morman of New Braunfels. The airman is a 1984 graduate of New Braunfels High School. Terry L. Hanson, son of Larry and Dorothy Hanson of New Braunfels graduated from Southwest Texas State University Aug. 17 with a degree in journalism. He is a 1986 graduate of New Braunfels High School. Jason Gabriel of Spring Branch has been awarded a one-ycar $500 Texas Coca-Cola Bottlers scholarship by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation. This year the Texas Coca-Cola Bottler's awarded IOO grants to students who have participated in the UIL Academic State Meet Contests and who have compiled an outstanding record of academic and extracurricular achievement. Gabriel, a graduate of Smithson Valley High School, placed fourth in accounting at the 1991 State Academic Meet in Austin last sixing. Gabriel was a member of the varsity football and basketball team at Smithson Valley along with the school newspaper, Spanish Club, Who’s Who Among American High School Students and Young Leaders Congress. Gabriel will attend the Uni versity of Houston in the fall and major in accounting. Pvt Ray A. Rayos has completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid and Army history and traditions. He is the son of Frank V. and Margaret V. Rayos of New Braunfels. He is a 1991 graduate of New Braunfels High School. Stacy Lee DeWall of New Braunfels has received a degree from Baylor University. Baylor University awarded 662 degrees to students at the close of the summer 1991 sessions. Degrees awarded included 423 bachelor's degrees, 160 master’s degrees, 64 law degrees and 15 doctorates. ••• Daren Jarisch, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. ILA. Jarisch of New Braunfels, recently qualified for the Triathlon Federation’s USA National Amateur Championship held in Hammond. Ind. Jarisch is from Victoria. Chelsea Welsch, while visiting her dad, Mike Welsch and her grandparents, Allen and Barbara Welsch, all of New Braunfels this summer, attended the Hermann Sons Youth Camp in Comfort and was chosen as best girl camper for the week of Aug. 11-17. She is 13 years old and has attended the camp in Comfort for the past five years. She is from Gig Harbor, Wash. Navy Dentalman Recruit William J. Robinson, son of Donald M. arui Velma L. Bowen of New Braunfels, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, homeported in San Diego. He is a 1990 graduate of Canyon High School and joined ti* Navy in July 1990. Airman Richard S. Moon has graduated from the surgical service specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas. Students were taught operating room basic knowledge, processing sterile supplies and equipment, and providing nursing care for patients in preparation for surgery, during and immediately after surgery in the phase. . Moon is the son of William and Laurie Moon of Canyon Lake. He is a 1988 graduate of Smithson Valley High School.
