Music teachers won the top honor of New Braunfels Independent School District Teachers of the Year.
Marcia Kelly, Memorial Primary music teacher, and Anna Zientek, Oak Run band teacher, were honored as NBISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. Superintendent Ron Reaves and board of trustees President D. Lee Edwards recognized the two at a recent Unicom football game.
Kelly has been teaching 19 years and has taught in NBISD for 15 years.
Zeintekhas taught 13 years — ll years with NBISD.
"We’re extremely proud of the quality of teachers we have in the district and these are two examples of that quality," Reaves said. "We appreciate what they do for the district as well as our other teachers in the district."
TWO teachers of the year are selected after they are voted on by campus representatives and interviewed by a district committee.

DONT MISS'WURST MELLERDRAMA'
At Circle Arts Theatre, a lonely old sausagemaker named Pegetto creates a puppet made of stuffed sausage casings, Nipocchio, who years to a real boy "In the Wurst Way." The annual Wurstfest “meller-drama” opens with a sing-along and instructions on how the audience can participate in the action — groaning at the silly puns, cheering for the hero and throwing popcorn at the villain. The show plays at 7:30 p.m. each day during Wurstfest, except for Nov. 9. The Nov. 2 show will be a 4 p.m. matinee only. Tickets are $5 per person, and children younger than 6 are admitted free.
