TG&Y will sell Household International The TG&Y Stores Co. intends to sell its merchandising division of Household International that includes the stores in Oklahoma City, the firm’s president says. Richard C. Rusthoven said Tuesday the sale will benefit the chain and its customers. Rusthoven said Household International would be sold to a group of investors for cash and $125 million in subordinated notes. Household International would own IO percent of Hie acquiring company. The merchandising subsidiary includes 729 TG&Y stores, 1,800 Ben Franklin stores, 181 Vons West Coast supermarkets and 1,040 franchise hardware stores in 26 states with more than 28,(HK) employees. Rusthoven said the sale is "a very positive and stabilizing move for TG&Y." Household International said the agreement was signed with Donald, Lufkin & Jenrette and Fox Meyer Corp Boger E. Stangeland, chief executive of Vons, is scheduled to become chief executive of the new corporation which will be headquartered in Chicago. First bull, a Pacesetter son, sold for $5,000 to Jessie Heliums, Sisterdale Valley Ranch. Several of the leading Hereford breeders rn South Texas were active bidders for the high indexing son of Pacesetter, the two time Denver Champion. Second Pacesetter son went to J.D. Schmidt Hereford Ranch, Hondo for $3,000. James Johnston Ranch, Pearsall, purchased one bull for $3,500 and another one for $3,000. Major bull buyers were Eduardo (iarza, Nuevo I.aredo, with 6 bulls for $1,900; M E. O’Conner, Victoria — 4 bulls for $8,000; Gary Schmidt, Mason — 6 bulls for $5,200; Atascosa Livestock, Pleasanton 4 bulls for $4,000; Pierce Ranch, Wimberly I bull for $1,650. The 15 Clyde Johnson and Son bulls sold for $28,550 to average $1,900 The nine Jack Ebeling bulls sold for $14,805 to average $1,645. The four I .ago Vista consigned bulls averaged $1,050.
