And God is earnestly desiring to bestow upon us these priceless gifts. A good prayer for many of us might be, “0 Lord, help me to receive what You offer today. Help me to open my life to the live, joy, peace and bounty which You want me to have today. Keep me from refusing the good life You offer to me even in the midst of circumstances before me today. Thank you, Dear Father, for your faithfulness in meeting all of my needs. Amen.” EYE OPENERS By Dr. Henry Hull ADVICE TO PARENTS C. Who should examine a first grader’s eyes? A. School-age children should have their eyes examined by a professional on a regular basis. It is not the teacher's responsibility to identify your child's vision problem, although most teachers recognize some symptoms of poor vision. When they do, they generally recommend that your child have a total, professional eye examination. Many visual disorders are not picked up by the Snellen Chart Test given in school. Q. When should a child have the first eye examination? A. Every pre-schooler (aged 2 to 4) should have an annual eye examination. Nursery schools now include reading readiness in their curriculums, and your child needs to see well in order to function well in the pre-school setting. Of course, if you suspect that your child has an eye problem at an even younger age because of squinting, turning the head to one side, or an eye that turns, the youngster should be examined right away.
