From staff, wire reports LOCAL NEW BRAUNFELS POLICE NAB I IN SUSPECTED BREAK-IN — New Braunfels police arrested an 18-year-old man early Tuesday after he allegedly burglarized a Loop 337 business. Police detective Scott Renken said Eddie A. Lira was booked into Comal County Jail on a charge of burglary of a building. Renken said the arrest came after a 3:30 a.m. investigation into a break-in at The Boxcar, which prompted an area search with police dogs. Two other suspects were still being sought Tuesday evening, Renken said. An inventory will be conducted to determine what was taken. NEW BRAUNFELS v CITY TO OFFER REQUIRED HUNTING CLASS — New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department will offer a hunter education course. Texas Parks and Wildlife requires a hunter education course be taken before hunting in Texas. The course is open to people of all ages. Preregistration at the Landa Park parks office is mandatory and continues through noon, Oct. IO. The course costs $10. Classes will take place at Landa I laus in Landa Park Oct. 14 to 16 and Oct. 21 to 23. State applauds McKenna for breastfeeding results From staff reports The Texas Department of xHealth recognized McKenna Memorial Hospital for encouraging breastfeeding. McKenna is one of 34 Texas hospitals that have received the Ten Step designation. The McKenna Memorial Hospital Lactation Center helps mothers make breastfeeding work for them, said Terry Jackson, center coordinator. The center initiates more 74 percent of mothers to breastfeeding. Texas Ten Step hospital maternity staff members receive breastfeeding training within the first six months of employment and receive annual updates. “It’s very important because it decreases the risk of a lot of health issues,” slid Tracy Erickson, breastfeeding coordinator for the TDH bureau of nutrition services.
