Jima Watson and Keith Weber.Trashiest volunteers help keep rivers clean
lima Watson and Keith Weber drove down from Arlington to volunteer at TYashfest.
TYashfest is a daylong river cleanup. Volunteers get free food, air for diving gear and prizes for collecting the most trash.
Watson and Weber were two of 200 divers who participated in the annual event. Most of them were out-of-town-ers.
The volunteers were divided into several groups of eight divers each and assigned different parts of the Comal River. They worked from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. collecting trash and were celebrated with a diner later that evening.
Watson and Weber represented the Diving Rebels diving club out of Arlington.
They cleaned a short stretch of river near the dam in Landa Park.
TYashfest is the largest and last single river cleanup effort.
