Bike rider raises money for multiple sclerosis
Rana Russell has been taking care of Comal County residents for years as a nurse at the McKenna Memorial Hospital emergency room, with Communities in Schools and elsewhere.
Now, she’s looking for a little help from the community in taking care of herself and other victims of multiple sclerosis.
Russell, her mother, Jackie, 67, and sons Matthew, 15, and Colin, 3-1/2, are making the annual Multiple Sclerosis 150 Bike Tour from New Braunfels to Corpus Christi this weekend.
She is trying to raise money for research she hopes will help victims of the disabling disease of the central nervous system.
“I’ve had it eight years, and I know there’s no cure,’’ Russell said. She hopes research will give her and others like her the best possible quality of life.
Anyone who wishes can donate in Russell’s name can do so until Nov. I at www.msl50.org/b2b/donate/donate.cf m?id=70069. Or call Russell at work at 964-3019 or home at 643-0376.
