meeting August in the home of Linda Kietert members were given their new yearbooks designed by Rosemary Allen Kay Franklin and Janie Remm Icr The yearbooks were cleverly designed to carry out this years inter national theme of Treasure Special The meeting was cohost ed by the Social Committee composed ofPatty School Cheryl McDougald Joan Blankenbeker Sue Hahn and Barbara Johnson Preceptor Rho Chapter of Beta Sig ma Phis regular September meeting was held in the home of Carolyn Williams on Sept 13 Cohostess was Cheryl McDougald A very interest ing and informative program was pre sented by Myra Lee Adams Goff and Roscmarie Leissncr Gregory on their soon to be published book New Braunfels Comal County A Pictorial Any Beta Sigma Phi member liv ing in the New Braunfels area who is on leave Sept 2 with President Mary Owens presiding After the opening ritual Owens welcomed Mary Dean and Dorothy Ebert Senior vicePresi dent Patsy Vineyard reported mem bership at 124 Ardith Mueller Amer icanism chairperson encouraged every one to fly their flags over the Labor Day weekend Girl State chairperson Dorisse Krueger introduced Kristy McDougald and mother Cheryl Kristy sponsored by the unit spoke on her experiences at Girl State Other citizens unable to come are Carrie Morrison Amy Holt man and Lezee Bartrum The Boy State citizens spoke to the Post and Auxiliary too Owens appoint ed Mary miss the next Pictured are the winners Alice Brlones humorous speech Hilda Bryant table topics and Joe and Shay Tlmmlns lip sync Womens Club met Sept 15 at the Flying Chef restaurant for their regular meeting A report was made on the fish fry in August which was declared a success Lucille Biegel legislative chairman gave a report on various items especially the Presidents health reform plan and encouraged members to contact their representatives in Con gress to express their views The pro gram was Republican vs Democrat ic given by Lucille Over Youth For twoandahalf hours on a recent Saturday and again Sunday the newly formed Just Over Youth group pro vided the community with an out standing dinner show at the Senior Cit izen Center on Landa Street When the doors opened for the first performance the dining room was a lovely sight Each table was fully set up for six diners A steak dinner was served No line to stand in very classy Gladys Battling coordinated the meal The melodrama The Town That Couldnt Wake was ably directed by Jean heck A cast of 91 was appar ent on the stage with possibly that many more working aback stage and in the kitchen The setting was frontier town LAN Potluck in 1877 The story was based on Sleeping All the costumes and makeup were done by Helen Nolan and her helpers Id say the Indian outfit was the most outstanding But how can I say that really Each costume was great The play was so filled with laughter from the audience that it was some times hard to hear the lines People booed the villain Badpenny Harry Myers and cheered the hero Tom Lawrence John When Chief Thousand Feathers Jim Cooney kissed Lark Bluebonnet Ann Monday he inadvertently got war paint on her face Everyone ir eluding the cast laughed and laughed jntil Ann held up her hand to the audieice and said Hush up I have anotheline Louise Stott had the longest singing roice rang out clear strong part and her and wonder ul The show IU11 house I time for all Club both
