$1.50 per month in August instead of the previously announced $4.95 per - month. If the customer buys any I movie channel, their “Encore” rate ; will remain one dollar per month, Morrison said.
“We’re trying to get the ‘Encore’ name better known,” Morrison said. “About 55 percent of the people in town subscribe to ‘Encore,’”
Morrison added that he is pleased that the Herald-Zeitung lists “Encore” schedules in the newspaper. Other ! area newspapers have declined to do ; so, he said.
In another cable note, Morrison added that “quite a few people”
; ordered the “World Wrestling Federa-;tion" pay-per-view telecast on Wed-•nesday night. The broadcast was the ! first pay-per-view event on New ; Braunfels cable television. Cost for ;the event ranged from $24.95 to $30, •based on when the customer ordered. !A Mike Tyson boxing match in ; November was scheduled to be the ;first pay-per-view event available in •New Braunfels but was cancelled I when Tyson was injured.
• The monthly rate increases will not •take effect until Jan. I and will be ’.reflected on January bills to be mailed ’.in December. Morrison added that •city of New Braunfels officials were •notified before the notices were sent Iota with the December bills.
\ Interim City Manager Hector Tamayo confirmed that TCI did send a letter notifying the city of the 'increase “even though they are not Required to do so.”
• “That is all controlled at the federal level now,” Tamayo said. “There is nothing we can do about it. I think it is bad timing on their part (for an increase).”
The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung's annual advertising rate adjustment goes into effect Dec. I.
• The adjustment was formulated to meet increases in the cost of the essentials of doing business, said Editor and Publisher David Sui lens.
• When announcing the adjustment, $illens cited increases in the cost of items ranging from workman’s compensation insurance to ink.
