The social hour begins at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Newly elected officers for 1997 will be installed. The New Braunfels Optimist auh is having its annual Christmas party and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Schwamkrug’s Steakhouse. A reception with dinner begins at 7 p.m. Spouses and friends are welcome. The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 2999 is having a business meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Officers are meeting at 7 p.m. The Mission Valley Lunch Bunch is meeting at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Smokehouse. The Comal County Genealogy Society will have a Christmas party at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Building next to Norwest Bank at 1000 N. Walnut Ave. Members should bring “finger food.” Drinks will be furnished. Installation of new officers for 1997 will take place. Members should bring interesting research for “show and tell.” a.m. Dec. 9 at the Hermann Sons Lodge. Bring a wrapped gift. The German-American Society is meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Hall at 410 W. Coll St. The annual Christmas patty is scheduled for after the short business meeting, which will incluck the election of officers and a Wurstfest report. The charge for nonmembers is $3. Dues for 1997 are $5 per person and will be accepted. Checks are requested. The Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group is meeting from 10:30 to 11:30 a m. Dec. 14. Everyone who has an interest in this incapacitating illness is invited. The Alzheimer's Support Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Anyone who has a friend or family member with Alzheimer’s disease is invited to share their common concerns, offer one another comfort and provide understanding in living with their caregiving situation. The Comal County Women's Center currently offers a Domestic Violence Support Group called “New Beginnings,” to help survivors of abuse share their experiences, put their lives back together, gain self-understanding, break the cycle of abuse in their own families and learn how to access the resources they need to make it on their own. This group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday. A children’s group meets at the same time. The Comal County Women'4 Center will be offering a new support group called “Letting Go” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays. This program is designed for women whose lives are being affected by violence or abuse of a physical, emotional or sexual nature, whether ongoing or in the past. The goal is to come together to share experiences, gain self-understanding, learn to cope with daily living and to learn problem-solving and stress management skills. A children’s group meets at the same time. We ask that you call prior to your first meeting if you will be bringing your children.
