Chief of Police Royce Goodson and Lt. Donna O’Conner had every officer save one either directing traffic or working the police booth, handing out balloons to children.

Goodson said the night was at least as fun for the police as it was for the community’s children. It was also important for both, he said.

“I think it’s just good for children to be able to connect with us and see we’re
more freedom, but by bus or by car, the fans realized that they all had the same goal.
“I’m too rowdy for the

Unfortunately, Goodson said, most of the time when children meet a police officer, it’s when the officer is responding to a domestic dispute or some other family disturbance.
“This is a chance for us to do something positive," he said.
