The business counselor from UTSA’s School of Business is in the Chamber of Commerce office every Tuesday to offer counseling in topics of interest to anyone in business or considering starting a business. Topics cover financing, personnel, business planning, taxes, expansion and many others. Also, the ’Business Start-Up’ orientation was well received and will be offered the first Tuesday of each month. Appointments may be made for individual counseling and for the orientation by calling 625-2385. The service is free and confidential.
A car wash will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at Dave’s Exxon, 920 1-35 West, behind KFC. All donations go toward Canyon High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes Mission Trip.
The New Braunfels Downtown Association is sponsoring a downtown-wide sidewalk sale on Saturday, May 20. This is an opportunity for shoppers to discover special savings throughout downtown businesses while enjoying the festivities at Hummelfest. There will be a video crew filming activities downtown to be used in a downtown promotion video.
Saturday, May 20, Cross Country will perform and Saturday, May 27, ball room dancing with Tommie Vanek will be held at the HU Wood Post 345 American Legion hall in Seguin. Dances start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5.
White elephant sale

Trailride membership drive
The Comal County Sheri IT s Posse will host a 16 mile trailride Saturday, May 20 from the CCSP Arena at the Interstate 35 exit for Solm’s road. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with the ride out at 8:30 .. with a lunch stop at Goerke’s Tavern and back to the Arena for snacks and Playday fun. Drinks will be provided on the ode; lunch is on your own; and you must provide your own horse. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Non-members $5; Children under 14 free. Gruene Market Days features more than IOO artists and craftsmen. It will be held in downtown Gruene May 20 and 21 from IO a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Comal County Democrats will hold their annual picnic in the Park at Landa Park, Site 15, located by the Children’s playground. Summer Discovery Camp
Park Rangers will lead youths between the age of six to IO in enjoying the out-of-doors, wildlife, nature studies, hiking, crafts, outdoor games, and environmental projects during the City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Discovery Camp in Landa Park.

Art and craft show
The 31st annual Spring Art and Craft Show will be blooming with creative works Memorial Day weekend. Sponsored by the New Braunfels Art league, the show and sale will be held in the Civic Center Saturday, May 27 from IO a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 28, from IO a m. to 5 p.m. Hourly door prizes, and a framed personally autographed print by Dalhart Windberg will be the grand door prize given at the close of the show. Children’s Museum birthday
The Children’s Museum in New Braunfels will celebrate its birthday this year with two special events - The Magical Child Workshop at Buck Pottery on June 5 and an Old-Fashioned Birthday Bash June 6 at Gruene Hall.
The Magical Child Workshop will allow kids to play with clay and have their creations fired and turned into permanent works of art. The birthday Bash will include 25 cent lemonade and ice cream, dancing and a kids’ raffle.
Registration for the Magical Child Workshop is under way at the museum. Fee is $5.50 for members and $6.50 for non-members. Coupons for discount admissions to the Birthday Bash are available at the museum and Gruene merchants. For information, call 620-0939.
