New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - May 6, 1983, New Braunfels, Texas Two suspects sought in officer's murder DALLAS I AL i - Police were seeking a man and a woman today after questioning a man believed to be a witness to the slaying of a police officer who was shot five times and run over with a van Arrest warrants were issued Thursday night for Vernon E Morales. 44 and Rosemary Conclllo. 38. both of Dallas, according to Municipal Judge Barbara Rosenberg Ms Rosenberg said she denied bond for both A 44 year old man, one of the three people who conia* ted the sheriff s department Thursday, is believed to have been in a van momenta before Dallas Police Officer Ronald Baker was killed Monday, an investigator said Baker was slain in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the Pleasant Grove section after apparently stumbling onto a drug deal in progress, police said The witness provided information about the two suspects Police Capt Grant lappln told the Dallas Times Herald Acting on an anonymous tip. polite surrounded an apartment building earlier Thursday and took four people in to custody before learning they had no connection with the case, officials said The four — two women and two men — were told to surrender after tactical officers evacuated the area and herded nearby schoolchildren into an auditorium as a safety precaution, police spokesman Rd Spencer said.
