Charles L. Lewis, Jr.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Zoeller Funeral Home for Charles L. Lewis Jr., of New Braunfels, who died at his residence Wednesday night, May 3,1995 at the age of 78.
Herman Baer, 82, of Seguin, Texas, died on Tuesday, May 2, 1995. Although a lifelong resident of Seguin, he was bom 3 miles from Seguin in the southern area of Guadalupe County on Nov. 16,1912. He began his prominent business career in 1931 working for Michna’s Gulf and Firestone at Seguing famous “Four Comers” location. In 1941, he and Michna opened a GMC truck dealership, naming it Highway Motor Company. In 1953, Highway Motors began handling the Pontiac line of automobiles. Baer continued working for Michna operating the dealership. In 1955, he acquired the local Gulf Distributorship. In 1968, he acquired the entire car dealership upon Michna’s death. He continued to operate the businesses witnessing much change in his career. In the early ‘80s, he began to prepare for retirement and in 1982, Highway Motor Co. was sold to Lee Roy Soechting and merged with Soechting Motors. He continued to be active in the business until his death.

Music Study Club meeting at Seele House
The New Braunfels Study Club (TFMC, NFMC) will have a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at the Seele Parish House.
Mary Eek, District IX president, will install officers for the coming biennium.
There will be a children's hour plus a performance by the 1994-95 scholarship winner Rachel Elizabeth Griffin.
All members are encouraged to attend and bring guests.

Knights of Columbus, and Chamber of Commerce. At one time he belonged to nearly every bowling club in the local area. He enjoyed deer and bird hunting. In his retirement years he enjoyed his farm east of Seguin.
Mr. Baer is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Larry (Rita) Ferguson and son-in-law, Larry Ferguson; a sister, Elsie Baer, sister-in-law, Mrs. Emil (Myrtle) Baer; and Mr. and Mrs. Hilmar Tschoepe, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, of New Braunfels. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, lima Baer; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baer; a brother, Emil Baer; and sister, Elenora Baer.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 4, 1995 at IO a.m. at the Goetz Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at the Goetz Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 4,1995. Mass will be celebrated May 5,1995 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas (^'Callaghan as the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery.
A special thank-you is extended to Drs. Wolfe Brown and Trakhtenbroit as well as the staffs of Methodist Hospital and Santa Rosa Rehab Center for their unending encouragement and care. Sylvia T. Procter
Sylvia T. Procter, of New Braunfels, died Tuesday, May 2, 1995 at McKenna Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. Mrs. Procter had lived in New Braunfels over 50 years and was married to Charles Land Procter, who preceded her in death in 1975. She was a housewife and dedicated her spare time to volunteer work for the hospital and the church.
She is survived by 3 sons, Robert L. Procter and wife Sue, of Las Vegas, Nev., William T. Procter and wife Linda, of New Braunfels, and John C. Procter and wife Marilyn of Carrollton, Texas; two grandchildren, Kent Procter, of Houston, and Diana Procter, of Oklahoma; and one great-granddaughter, Megan Procter.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday, May 5,1995 at IO arn. Memori-
als may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church Altar Guild.
