BrieflyNew type of investing
NEW YORK (AP) — There’s a new type of investment game on Wall Street called “junk financing” by its opponents and “high-yield financing” by its supporters.
It uses unsecured securities that pay very high interest. The securities are called “junk" because of the low rating they’ve received from credit-rating agencies. Through this

clean are the clean rooms in com-puter-chip factories?
At one company here, the fabrication area clean room has air with fewer than IO particles of 0.5 micron or larger per cubic foot.
By comparison, a hospital operating room contains 10,000 to 100,000 particles per cubic foot. One micron is one-hundredth the width of a strand of human hair.
Garden clubs throughout District VII which include Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Uvalde and San Antonio areas may submit entries and compete for various awards. Awards presented at the convention to local clubs were:
Four Seasons Garden Club — green rating; second place president’s report.
Guada Coma Garden Club — bronze rating; first place — club history, club scrapbook, press publicity, president’s report and bird sanctuaries; second place — yearbook.
Certificates were also awarded to Guada Coma for donations made to Wild Basin Wilderness in Austin, World Gardening and District VII Scholarship Fund.
Winning youth posters by students from the New Braunfels Christian Academy sponsored by Guada Coma were “Woodsy Owl’’ — first place, James Drury and Tiffanie Purvis; “Smokey the Bear’’ — first place, Janie Jasper and Katie Bader, and
“Conservation My View” — first place, Taylor Bedford; second place Mark Pettis.
Comal Garden Club — silver rating; first place president’s report.
All local club entries awarded at the District Convention will continue to compete at the state level with results being announced April IO at the State Spring Convention in Fort Worth.
