Program guide available
The City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department now has available, free copes of the 1996 Program Guide. The guide contains information about the city’s recreational facilities and upcoming programs and events. Stop by the City Municipal Building at 424 S. Casten Ave. the Parks Office at I IO Golf Course Road, or the Landa Recreation Center in Luanda Park to pick up a copy.
Intro to fishing
The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department is offering this month’s Nature’s Way: Introduction to Fishing. Participants age 17 or older must possess a valid Texas fishing license. Fishing poles and tackle will be available.
Program will be Wednesday, March 27 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at picnic area #4 in Landa Park. The fee is $4 per person. Pre-registration is required and will be taken until March 25 at the parks office. For information, call 608-2160.
Boy Scout Troop 163, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is selling barbecue tickets as a fund-raiser for the troop’s camping and outdoor activities. Barbecue plates will be prepared for drive-through pickup on Friday, March 29 from 5:30 p.m.. to 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Tickets are $5 per plate, pre-sale only. The third choral concert by the wellknown Schoenbeck Choir from Germany, with 35 singers, will perform March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. A wine reception will follow the program. Tickets will be available at the door for $5. For information, call Hel-gard Suhr at 625-6330.
The second annual Bulverde Community-wide rummage sale is planned for Saturday, March 30 at 9 a m. to 5 p rix, at the Bulverde Community Cen
ter. Sponsored by Citizen league for Environmental Action Now.
Pancake brunch will be held March 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Comal County Senior Center, 655 Landa Street. The mortgage has been paid off and will be burned at 10:30 a.m. The funds will be used for the new expansion. Adults $3.50, children 12 and under $ 1.50. All you can eat, everyone invited.
Easter egg hunt
Head to Landa Park for the annual Landa Park Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at tH Landa Lake Gazebo. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance in the park to begin the hunt and pose for pictures. The hunt is sponsored by Wuest’s Supermarkets, the New Braunfels Evening rotary Club and the city Parks and Recreation Department. For information, call 608-2167.
A Youth Choir from Velbert, Germany, will perform at the Seele Parish House on March 31 at 7 p.m. The program of famous and well liked songs will be sang in German, English, French and Russian. A reception to meet the young singers will be held after the concert.
New restaurant helps out
The Children’s Museum in New Braunfels will benefit from the ‘dress rehearsal’ for the staff of the Pinto Ranch Grill (formerly Langston House). Purchase a dinner pas at the museum for $15 and then reserve a time for dinner between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Pinto Ranch Grill. The museum gets the money, you get a dinner with drinks, appetizer and dessert. Call 620-0939 for information.
The next night, the Pinto Ranch Gnll will do the same thing for Fesstage in New Braunfels. For information, call Anna Lee or Donna at the Chamber of Commerce, 625-2385.
The Clown Corps will be back at the Children’s Museum for Clowning Around After School. The class meets every Thursday in April (4, 11,18 and 25) from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Learn the art of makeup, the art of balloon sculpture and the history of clowns. Barbecue and country store
The New Braunfels Order of the Eastern Star will hold a barbecue and country store from April 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Eagles Hall, 257 E. South. Plates $5.50 for adults and $3 for children.
The New Braunfels Iris Society will hold its annual Iris Show on Saturday, April 13, from I p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Wesley Hall of First United Methodist Church. Admission is free. Anyone who wishes to bring show stalks is invited to bring them between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Each bloom should have the name of the iris with it, or it cannot be judged. Members of the Iris Society will have potted iris plants for sale during the show. Show co-chairmen are Mary Grace Schaefer and Bobbie Allen.
