The Community Council of South Central Texas’ Head Start Program is conducting a label collection drive to get valuable educational equipment. Head Start may redeem labels for free audio-visual equipment, athletic equipment, reference books, teaching aids, computers and more. White Cane Day
March 23 is White Cane Day in New Braunfels. Members of the Noon Lions Club will be selling white canes all over town. Money collected will be used to assist the visually impaired.
Go Western Gala
The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce sponsors is 12th annual Go Western Gala at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Music by Thunderridge, meal by Guadalupe’s Best Diner. Tickets on sale $12 advance or $15 at the door. To be held at the Dam Red Bam located on the Dam access road.
The New Braunfels Optimist Club will sponsor a “Friend of Youth” golf tournament Saturday, March 30 at Rebecca Creek Golf Course. Deadline for entry is March 23.

Intro to fishing
The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department is offering this month’s Nature’s Way: Introduction to Fishing. Participants age 17 or older must possess a valid Texas fishing license. Fishing poles and tackle will be available.
Program will be Wednesday, March 27 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at picnic area #4 in Landa Park. The fee is $4 per person. Pre-registration is required and will be taken until March 25 at the parks office. For information, call 608-2160.
Boy Scout Troop 163, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is selling barbecue tickets as a fund-raiser for * the troop’s camping and outdoor activities. Barbecue plates will be prepared for drive-through pickup on Friday, March 29 from 5:30 p.m.. to 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Tickets are $5 per plate, pre-sale only. The third choral concert by the wellknown Schoenbeck Choir from Germany, with 35 singers, will perform March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. A wine reception will follow the pro

The Comal County Veterinaiy Medical Association is holding a rabies clinic Saturday, March 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Comal County Fairgrounds, Canyon Lake Fire Station #1 and the Canyon Lake Fire Station #2. Vaccination is $6, and $5 for city or county license. Bring proof of ..lifetime license for renewal. Bring pet on leash or in carrier.
Easter egg hunt
Head to Landa Park for the annual Landa Park Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at the Landa Lake Gazebo. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance in the park to begin the hunt and pose for pictures. The hunt is sponsored by Wuest’s Supermarkets, the New Braunfels Evening rotary Club and the city Parks and Recreation Department. For information, call 608-2167.
A Youth Choir from Velbert, Germany, will perform at the Seele Parish House on March 31 at 7 p.m. The program of famous and well liked songs will be sang in German, English, French and Russian. A reception to meet the young singers will be held after the concert.
The Clown Corps will be back at the Children’s Museum for Clowning Around After School. The class meets every Thursday in April (4, 11,18 and 25) from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Learn the art of makeup, the art of balloon sculpture and the history of clowns. Literacy tutor workshop
