New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - March 12, 1987, New Braunfels, Texas Quilt making easy for all By DONNASALYERS The class was entitled A Quilt in a Day, an appealing thought to someone with a busy schedule and who knows absolutely nothing about quilting “Most students take home a completed project." we were told as we selected the fabrics for our anticipated quilt Fabrics are preselected, as seasoned quilters know. for laundering and pressing to eliminate future shrinkage and bleeding of dyes The class was a huge success, though our quilt was not At least not until a week later when the last stitch was finally sewn No matter - we absolutely fell in love with quilting and can not wait to begin our next project If you enjoy fabrics and colors, chances are you too will enjoy quilting, as do an estimated 14 million quiltmakers in the United States today But where does a beginner start* Which pattern is best for a novice* Machine quilting vs hand quilting* We asked experts from across the country fort dvtce: "Select a pattern that is visually appealing." said Pam Rosing national sales manager of Mountain Mist (quilt batting) and owner for 12 years of a quilt shop in Montgomery .
