With all our choices... Why go anywhere else?
CISD child care is not recommended
The Comal Independent School District will not be pursuing employee-sponsored child care after an assessment survey, conducted by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASH), determined that the child care centers could not support themselves.
TASB’s Childcare Solutions department conducted the assessment for the school district this semester.
The results showed that employees seeking child care for their children could not commit to full-time enrollment and they wanted the day-care centers on the campuses where they were working.
“Financially, the day care centers would require support from the school district, something the district is not prepared to do,” said Nancy Cobb, assistant superintendent of Administration.
For information contact Cobb at 830-221-2023, or 830-885-1791.
Rebecca Creek hosts reading night
All parents of Rebecca Creek Elementary students are invited to a Family Reading Night, Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school.
The entire family is invited to the Dr. Seuss-theme evening.
The fun-filled event will give parents an opportunity to ask questions about teaching methods and strategies for reading and language arts. In addition, parents and students will be able to participate in hands-on activities and games.
Dinner will be available for only $1 per person.
For information call the school at 830-885-1450, or 830-221-2995.
Parents, teachers conferences set
Parents have an opportunity to meet with their children’s teachers during the biannual Parent-Tbacher Conference Days Tuesday through Thursday in the Comal Independent School District.
Teachers will be available to meet with parents right after an early release at 1:30 p.m. (elementary) or 2 p.m. (secondary) all three days.
The typical 15-minute conferences are usually scheduled directly between the teacher and parents.
It is during this time that parents and teachers will have the opportunity to talk about the child’s successes and challenges. Parents should come prepared with questions or concerns regarding their child’s progress.
For information call your child’s school.
Screenings for special-needs kids
Children in the Comal Independent School District who range in age from birth to 5-years-old and who are suspected of having delays in speech, language or development should be screened Thursday at the district’s Central Office (Special Education Annex conference room), 1421 N. Business 36.
The screening services are free and appointments need to be made in advance.
Call Pat Hermes at 830-221-2042, or 830-886-1791 to schedule an appointment between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The Comal ISD provides services to students with special needs. This free public education is offered to eligible children ages 3 through 21.
