Singer-songwriter Rodney Hayden will play a series of free shows featuring cowboy songs starting Tuesday at the Phoenix Saloon in New Braunfels.
Chris Isaak will play at sold-out show tonight at historic Gruene Hall. The Charlie Shatter Band is the opening act.

Isaak’s Gruene Hall show sold out
Chris Isaak has been making great musk since 1985, anrl his latest album, "Mr. Lucky," proves he is still at the top of his game.
Isaak's show tonight at Gruene Hall promises to cover all phases of his career and include all the hits. The show is sold out. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the Charlie Shafter Band o|x*ning at 8 p.m. Isaak will take the stage about 9:30 p.m.
Gruene Hall has a full weekend of great music in store, starting Friday night with Texas icon Gary P. Nunn. The Derailers take over the hall on Saturday night and you (an spend the entire evening with the Band of Heathens on Sunday night. The group has released a new CD, "Top Hat Crown and The Clap-masters Son," which should get noticed for the title alone.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and there is a $12 cover charge. The band will be

doing an in-store meet-and-greet at 5 p.m. at Lone Star Music in Gruene.
Rodney F-layden has recorded an entire CD of traditional cowboy songs set for release on July 12. Hayden is famous for recording traditional country music so it makes perfect sense for him to record an album like this.
Starting Tuesday, he will perform a series of free shows at the Phoenix Saloon featuring these traditional cowboy songs. They start at 7 p.m. and continue

Speaking of the Phoenix Saloon, how about the three amazing shows this past weekend featuring Alex Meixner? It was like having Wurstfest in the summer. Kudos go to local singer Catie Offerman, who did an outstanding job
opening for Meixner for his first two nights.

The historic Brauntex Theatre is undergoing a major renovation project. The theater is hosting a benefit concert on Aug. 26 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 111 Landa St., New Braunfels. The show will feature The Platters, with special guest Big Daddy F)ean opening the show.
Tickets are $60 or a reserved table for 10 is $500. All proceeds will go directly to the renovation project. The theatre is getting new seats, a larger stage and several other improvements.
