Dorothy Pauline Dedeke, lifelong resident of Comal County and New Braunfels, died Tuesday, June 20, 1995. She was bom Oct. 24, 1906 in Hunter, Texas. She was the daughter of Richard and Hilda (Oelkers) Dedeke. She was descended both maternally and paternally from prominent pioneer Comal County families who settled the area in 1845. She attended public schools in Hunter and San Marcos, graduating from San Marcos High School in 1925. She attended Baylor College for Women in Belton, Texas and Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
She was active in the family business, Dedeke’s Housewares, with her two brothers, Leslie and Edward, until it was sold in 1975. She was active in her church, First United Methodist Church, singing in the choir for a number of years. Also, she served on the boards of directors of the New Braunfels Business and Professional Women’s Club and the New Braunfels Conservation Society. She was a member of the Sophienburg Museum Association and the Mid-Texas Symphony Society, and a supporter of many other civic associations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leslie A.
Dedeke Sr. She is survived by one brother, Edward R. Dedeke, of New Braunfels; one nephew, Leslie A. Dedeke Jr., of New Braunfels; one great-nephew, Leslie A. Dedeke III, of Houston; one great-niece, Danica Dedeke Calvin, of San Marcos; three great-great nieces and -nephews, of Houston; a host of cousins in Seguin, San Antonio, San Marcos, Austin and Lockhart; and friends over the state.
Funeral services will be conducted at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels at IO arn Friday, June 23, 1995. Interment will follow at Comal Cemetery. Fred Martin will officiate the services.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of New Braunfels or to Eden Home, Inc., of New Braunfels.

Sido Waldschmidt, of New Braunfels, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 1995 at the Colonial Manor Care Center at the age of 93. He was bom in New Braunfels on May 28, 1902 to Fritz and Lina Vom Stein Waldschmidt and was a lifetime resident of New Braunfels. He was a retired operator of a dry cleaning store and was also a
grocer. His wife, Laura Hank Waldschmidt, preceded him in death on Aug. 17,1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Hope Pfannstiel and husband Harvey, of New Braunfels; three grandchildren, Jay Pfannstiel and wife Jennifer, Matthew Pfannstiel and wife Selena, and Barry Pfannstiel; one great-granddaughter, Haley Laura Pfannstiel; one sister, Hertha Waldschmidt, of New Braunfels; one sister-in-law, Cora Heitkamp, of New Braunfels; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 23, 1995 at 9 a.m. at the Comal Cemetery with Rev. Samuel Heitkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
