Fernando Cruz Carreon was promoted to the rank of captain in the United States Air Force.
Carreon promoted to captain In US Air Force
Fernando Cruz Carreon, a Canyon High School class of 1988 alumnus and son of New Braunfels natives Rafael and Biolanda Carreon, was recently promoted to captain in the United States Air Force.
Following high school graduation, Carreon attended USAP basic training in San Antonio. A short time later, he completed technical training at the Aerospace Ground Equipment Technical School, Chanute AFB, Rantoul, 111.
Carreon then completed two assignments in Japan, achieving airman below the zone, flightline maintenance journeyman and was later promotion to staff sergeant, flightline maintenance craftsman.
Carreon became a technical instructor at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls in 1998.1 Ie was promoted to technical sergeant in 2000.
In 2001, (Carreon became a lieutenant, and was promoted to first lieutenant in April 2003.
Fernando earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education, specializing in corporate training, from Wayland University in Plainview in 2000.1 Ie earned his Master of Science in Space Systems Operations Management, emphasis in engineering, from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo., in 2004.

'AUSTIN CITY LIMITS' EXHIBIT
“Austin City Limits: Making Music, Making History” will be featured through Aug. 7 at die New Braunfels Museum of Art and Music, 1259 Gruene Road, Gruene. The exhibit is a first of a series showcasing the famed program’s most popular archived performances for viewing. A replica of the Austin City Limits stage is on display along with photos of performers and interacdve kiosks highlighting musical performances. A fund-raiser and reception will be held Friday at the museum. The event will include a silent auction, music by Wendy Colonna, hors d’oeuvres and light dinner; and the Austin City limits exhibit. ■ Detour The east (northbound side) Interstate 35 frontage road has been converted to one-way northbound traffic from FM 306 to Kohlenberg Road. Southbound traffic will be directed north to Kohlenberg Road, then southbound on the west side frontage road.
■ Reopens: In three months.
■ Work: This section of the road will be reduced to one-way traffic for installation of drainage and roadway construction.
■ Closure: The southbound exit ramp 188 to Business 35 at the New Braunfels Marketplace is closed permanently and the southbound (west) frontage road will be switched to the newly completed frontage road from south ofTexas 46 to the Marketplace.
