Many changes in last three years
To the Editor:
I have been reminded numerous times how lucky I was to be bom and raised in New Braunfels. The community has been good to me and my family and that is why my husband and I are happy we were able move bock and raise our family here.
But over the last three years, since we moved quite a lot has changed. There’s more crime, drugs and politics. no to mention the last two recent lawsuits to hit the San Antonio news, radio and television. It's become embarrassing at time to say you’re from New Braunfels with all the publicity.
Eventually our two school districts will consolidate and then what was ones problem will be the others and vice versa. Coming from both districts my husband and I recollect some of the educators charged with accusations as being the best of the best We hope that both districts continue to hire quality people and not let this kind of lawsuit effect those with desires to teach. School is for math, English and science not for babysitting.
Tile recent city council war is another embarrassing situation for our city. Seems like there is both back-scratching and back-stabbing going on.
Hearsay says at one time some of the people involved were once best friends. Maybe Mr. Goodbread knows too much?! If that is the case, it’s sad to see friends come to this. Hopefully he will succeed in his quest he did win the election.
New Braunfels has always been a great place to live — quiet in the winter and fun in the summer. Hope it stays that way! Let’s keep New Braunfels out of the news!!

As Tex Ritter is a native of Texas and worked hard for our country all Texans should write the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee, United States Postal Service, 475 L’Enfant Plaza S. W. Washington, D.C. 20260 telling them a beautiful Tex Ritter Museum was opened in Carthage, Texas in October of 1992 and that he
will always be remembered for his recordings, songwriting and movies so please honor Tex Ritter with a commemorative stamp using a colored picture of him as an early movie star.
Thank you very much.

Tourist should havo known
In reference to the “Letter to the Editor — (Bad experience)” in the Sunday, June 6th edition of the Herald-Zeitung, I was truly angered.
This man from San Antonio and his friends should have known what to expect on a holiday weekend on the Guadalupe River. He did admit this was their third year.
I am proud of our Sheriffs Department for doing their job, although I admit more should be done. And, of course, the outfitters’ charges are expensive. On a Memorial Day weekend they are going to make as much money as they can from tourists coming to our Cair city to get drunk and litter our beautiful rivers.
As for the Preiss Heights “Daredevils,” anyone stupid and drunk enough to consider risking their life to jump should be fined much more than $300,000 plus bail bonding fees and hopefully realize their life is worth a lot more than that. What would his letter have said if one of his friends had been paralyzed or had died? That the police should have been there to stop the jumping?
New Braunfels is not a tourist trap. The police and sheriffs department just want our city to be safe for both
residents and visitors. Maybe Mr. Aramburu should stay at home and cruise the Riverwalk and pray he doesn’t get mugged.

Wrong about Dr. Walker
Several months ago a friend called to share with me about the academic difficulties her son was having in school and the resulting emotional problems he was having. I suggested she call Dr. John Walker.
I called her yesterday morning (June 7) to apologize for the referral. In telling her to call Dr. John Walker I had felt confident that a man of his education would have the skills necessary to help her son in this difficult time.
I made a terrible mistake.
On Sunday, June 6, Dr. John Walker referred to children who were having a difficult time in school as dunces. In no way could a person who takes such a stance be therapeutic or productive in the life of a young person who is having a difficult time
My friend said her son had not felt comfortable with Dr. John Walker and they had not returned after the initial meeting. This young boy may be having academic problems but he is wise in knowing what is best for him.
Dr. Walker’s hospital folded. I think I know why. When that occurred he said that he had considered moving to the mountains. I think he had a good idea. Perhaps the nur-turanee that the mountains would provide would help this man.

Reader applauds Dr. Walker
I wish to applaud Dr. John Walker’s appropriate and humorous addition to The Screwtape Letters by C.
S. Lewis. As I am sure there will be many letters from outraged citizenry,
I am writing to bolster Dr. Walker’s assessment of our current disastrous educational fiasco in this state. If our educational organizations would focus on EDUCATION instead of re-socialization of our children, we might see a renaissance. Current prevailing philosophies, not strictly in education, are winnowing out the work ethic, pride in accomplishment, and elimination of all standards of personal achievement As to his satirical allusion to the Clintons’ efforts to ruin the nation with their legislation, his opinion is HIS OPINION and one I share! Often opinions of this paper expressed a definite bias towards the ‘politically correct’ philosophies of the left. It is refreshing to see more balance and I hope no intimidation will silence Dr. Walker’s input into the arena of combat for our inherit rights which we are facing in this country today.

City council not Ilk* football
To Dan Bremer, Jan Kennady and Ambrosio Benitez: Since you didn't have the inestinal fortitude to hang in there and conduct city business as you were elected to, why bother to go back? Your actions were juvenile and your credibility has all but evaporated. But since I am a perputual opt-mist I hope that by the time this letter is printed you will have found the courage to do what you were elected to do.. represent your constituents.
To Ambrosio Benitez: Why don't you let the legal system decide whether or not James Goodbread can hold office. A judge and city attorney have agreed that he can hold office
pending a final solution. And you don't really think serving on the city council is like playing high school football, do you?
To John Walker, M.D. Why don't you stick to your chosen field. I ve always enjoyed your well written and topical articles but for the past few weeks you've sounded like a lot of caring but naive entertainers who think that the public is really interested in their personal political agenda.
To David Sullens, Cheryl Duvall and Mark Lyon: The reporting has been better lately. I look forward to renewing my subscription.

When you're in pain you want answers FAST!
Chiropractic Care may be your answer. Here’s why.
If you had an accident that bent the frame of your car, you would need to go to a body shop to get the frame and body realigned. Why? A bent frame can cause many of the car’s systems to function improperly and be unsafe. The human body acts the same way. Increased age, bad posture, lack of exercise or an injury can throw a spine, joints and the surrounding nervous system into misalignment. This can cause great pain, discomfort, weakness, and even more serious, cut off critical controlling nerve impulses to vital organs, making them function
improperly, resulting in ill health! We restore alignment of the spine, joints, nerves, and muscles, bringing the body back to full function, strength and vitality! Chiropractic Treatments.,,, are pleasant and relaxing adjustments to the area of misalignment requiring no drugs or surgery. Most patients begin to experience relief from pain even on the first visit!
Highly Successful Results Studies have shown that 90% of all chiropractic
patients get the relief and improved health they were seeking!
