Those attending were Danielle Mittlestadt, daughter of Craig and Kim Mittlestadt, sponsored by The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 35; Lauren Kester, daughter of Robert and Sherry Kester, sponsored by The New Braunfels Noon Lions Club; Krista Hoffmann, daughter of Patricia Blalock, sponsored by The Garden Ridge-Bracken Lions Club; and Lauren Brucks, daughter of Ken and Lisa Brucks, sponsored by The New Braunfels Breakfast Lions Club. The girls “learned by doing” to learn the functions of government and how it works by simulating the duties of city, county offices, learning to write bills and hold elections. Out of the group of 580 from all over Texas, the girls will elect two of their members to attend Girls National in Washington, D.C. later this summer.
