The Comal chapter is planning a “radiothon” fundraising drive Saturday in conjunction with radio station KGNB-KNBT The format, a new wrinkle for the local chapter, will involve radio air time to promote the chapter’s telephone, fundraising campaign. KGNB has agreed to donate its public service announcements from noon to 4 p m. Saturday to promote the event and the American Heart Association. In addition, the station has planned to air phone-in reports from radiothon headquarters at New Braunfels Savings and Loan to update listeners on the progress of the event. Announcements and reports were scheduled to be broadcast on both KGNB f 1420 AM) and KNBT '92.1 EM). Pledges can be called in to New Braunfels Savings and Loan at 625-9131, beginning at I p.m. Comal chapter volunteers will be standing by to take pledges, and will be soliciting pledges as well. Proceeds generated by the radiothon will go to the association’s fight against heart disease — the nation’s number one killer.
