Commissioner Clyde Jacobs of precinct 4 supported Clark s sentiments and also agreed to make a private donation Commissioners Neil Craigmile. Precinct 2. and J I, “Jumbo” Evans Precinct I. felt that such a contribution of county funds was justifiable on a one time basis con sidering the significance of the date and all that it stands for After a motion by Evans that $r>o(i be given toward the fireworks, Commissioner Lorenzo “Yankee" Camarillo came out in support of a donation to what he considered a benefit to the county w ide community After approval of charges and credits to the $50,000 cash allowance in the renovation contract, commis stoners amended the procedures used to approve all fur ther charges/credits in tile contract. All commissioners expressed the need to keep involved in the decision making process on how the cash allowance is spent Clark said. “If we have to approve every change as it occurs, that is going to be daily.” The final decision was that commissioners be informed of all changes and that changes over $1,000 require for mal action by commissioners in a special meeting Discussion of a policy change in Worker’s Compensation in the county yielded a decision to initiate payment of existing family coverage by the county if an employee is out on worker's compensation The commissioners said payment of premiums by the county during the employee s term of absense due to injury would encourage employees to obtain coverage for their families and keep others from having to drop coverage once their income is lowered to two thirds of standard weekly wages through worker’s compensation Approval of the change is slated for the next regular meeting’s agenda Other action by commissioners included a report from County Clerk Rosie Bosenberry regarding payment of personnel for days not worked because of courthouse renovation The County Clerk also com mented that the County (Jerk s office will operate on a limited basis from the Tax Office located on the first floor of the courthouse annex to issue marriage licenses approval of an alteration to the floor plan of the (’our thouse’s first floor This will involve an addition of four days on the contract time and an additional $2,400 to $2,500.
