New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - July 28, 1995, New Braunfels, Texas Herald-Zeitung O Friday, July 28,1995 □ 5 Leaf through Centex’s wedding invitation book. Centex Office Center can help brides select perfect invitations Many brides forget that their wedding invitation will be a memento to friends and family. Friends will usually keep an invitation for several months, while family members will often put the invitation in an album and keep it for generations. A wedding invitation is never treated as junk mail. When choosing an invitation, the bride and her mother (usually) spend several hours reviewing samples and exchanging thoughts about the different styles and wording. Comments are made about the invitation styles, the wording, and who had an invitation that was similar. It sometimes takes a while to come to a conclusion about the wording and the particular print style. Choosing an invitation involves choosing from contemporary, classic, sophisticated and fun styles. Your invitation sets the tone for your wedding and reflects your distinctive style. You should select the perfect expression of your style. When planning a wedding, the plan is almost always for a “small wedding" initially. But it seldom ends up quite as small as expected. A recently married couple thought their wedding would involve about 50 people. As the invitation list evolved and it came time to order the invitations, the list included 135 people. We recommended 200 invitations. They ran out of invitations at the end. To avoid costly reorders, at least 25 extra invitations should be ordered. Mail your invitations four to six weeks before your wedding date. In addition, the bride’s family and the groom’s family should discuss the extent to which the invitation list has reached on the two sides, lest there be 150 from the bride’s side and 25 on the i groom’s side simply because the wedding list was not discussed. Try to save an invitation and send it to the President of the United States. On a whim, Cash and I sent one to the White House when we were married. We received, and have saved in our wedding album, a congratulations card from President and Mrs. Kennedy. Sometimes it is appropriate to send announcements of a wedding after the fact or to send announcements to more distant friends and relatives when your guest list must be limited. Announcement cards of this type have their place, but should be used sparingly. Reception cards should be printed with the time and location of post-wedding celebrations, and enclosed with your invitations. RSVP cards with pre-printed envelopes allow guests to reply quickly and easily. Once returned to you, these valuable cards help you accurately plan the catering for your reception. Social etiquette recommends adhering a stamp to the response envelope before mailing. Thank guests for their gifts personally and beautifully. Select thank-you cards from our complete collection for a warm expression of your gratitude. Frequently the invitation design can be continued through to the thank-you cards. Map cards can be enclosed in your invitations and conveniently let you direct the guest to your celebrations site.
